New contract for Cleverley

Tom Cleverley to get new three year contract. I hope the suggestion that he may go back out on loan is just "paper talk".

It was interesting to see him compare himself to Beckham's style of play. He reminded me when i saw him play for Watford last season as a cross between Nicky Butt and Beckham.

Gary Neville back Fabio Capello to stay in charge of the national team despite his making " tactical errors ". Does Wayne agree though, he has been very quiet both over in South Africa and since he got back. It's interesting to hear Neville saying we can't think that a strong club record in the champions league means much with all the foreign players involved.

Matthew Norman wonders why the lib dems have acquiesced so willingly with the tories first dose of Thatcherism. And as a lib dem voter he is losing his sympathy for the position they were left in after the election. I'm in a similar position. Even if they won a vote on AV, which i'm not sure they will anyway, that wouldn't be worth the pain of the economic blunders and ideological cuts the tories seem destined to give us.

David Blanchflower argues when the budgetary cuts force us into a double dip recession , the government will have no plan B. Then it will have to reinstate the cuts and reflate the economy, with who knows what reaction from the markets.

Nick Clegg with his populist gimmicky policy of asking the public for which policies they want changing. Even this sounds like it has come from inside the head of a tory.

It's not exactly Lloyd George or Gladstone is it.
