Well it's a start, this looks for real when you look at the people and the institutions involved.

The Times reports that one of the group's main figures Jim O'Neill of Goldman Sachs has close ties to Fergie. He was on the United board at the time of the takeover and one of the gimps first acts was to get rid of him.

We do have to watch and read what they have to propose carefully, but the rest of the blog just assumes a football club is about profit as if the German model doesn't exist.

Milner complains about Wembley pitch and compares unfavourably with lower league pitches. I watched the game on Sunday and straight away you saw how terrible the playing surface was and yet none of the commentators or pundits mentioned it once, unreal. So well done James Milner, i suppose.

Even the suits are aghast at the BBC's decision.

Music

Charles Mingus - Let my children hear my music: I haven't heard too much of Mingus, but what i've heard didn't prepare me for this. Definitely not easy listening but give it time and it turns out to be superb. The arrangements and playing are absolutely up there. I can see why this is supposed to be his favourite album.

Cornershop - Judy sucks a lemon for breakfast: I haven't heard these for years, but this carries on nicely from the last time i did.

Rilo Kiley - Under the blacklight: I enjoyed this piece of Californian indie pop. A lot of catchy hooks get you hooked after just a couple of listens.

RJD2 - Deadringer: I had read this guy compared to DJ Shadow before i listened to this and it's a good comparison and it doesn't flater him.

The phoenix foundation - Happy ending: The first track sounds like mid 90's Pulp but their own sound takes over as the latest album from the New Zealand outfit continues. It's not bad though it never really took off for me.

Ween - La Cucaracha: Where as i love the last studio album by US indie oufit Ween. You never really know what genre of music is coming next, reggae, pop, rock it's all there and it's all done well.
