Rooney ready for defining week of the season

Both Rooney and Ferdinand were on the plane to Munich after missing the Bolton game on Saturday.

Ian Herbert writes that its United's new found stability at the back that has helped push United back to the top of the table. He is on to something there, before the weekends games i had a quick look at the table. I usually just look at the goal difference, but this time i couldn't help noticing that we had conceded fewer goals than either Chelsea or Arsenal. After all the injury problems we have had at the back this season i was amazed at that

Alan Hansen sees a repeat of last years United Barca final at the Bernabau in May. There is a long way to go yet, i have a sneaky feeling that Inter may come through their side of the draw.

Oliver Kay compares the present United team to Fergie's great teams of the past. I would go for the treble team over the 93-94 team, mainly for the defence being better. But the 2006-07 season would be hard to beat for the football we played. That back four was the best we have had under Ferguson with Vidic and Ferdinand superb and Evra and the pre injury prone Gary Neville bombing forward at fulll back. The stronger the back four the more the attack can express themselves. I don't think Ronaldo will ever have a better season than that either.

Ian Herbert again wonders whether there is much point in forcing Fergie to face the press next season.

Arjen Robben has been Bayern's main man this season, but is doubtful for tomorrow leaving Bayern's fans hoping Ribbery finally turns up for them on the big stage.

David Conn reckons labour see football ownership reform as a vote winner, i have always thought that which makes you wonder as David Conn does why they have waited until now to propose it.
